Hello readers!!

I just had a fantastic weekend in Atlanta and I have SO much to share, I had to divide it up into multiple blog posts!

Some readers may be familiar with the concept of Primary Food. To quickly explain, primary food is the non-food sources of nourishment and is what really fuels us. Primary food consists of: Relationships, Physical Activity, Spirituality, and Career. The more primary food we give ourselves, the less we depend on secondary food, or the food on our plate. Simply put, even if your dinner plate is full of kale, broccoli, and quinoa, but your primary food is not in balance, you will not be healthy.

So, back to my fun story — I am overflowing with Primary Food right now!! This weekend, my husband Eric and I spent the weekend in Atlanta with our friends. These amazing friends are the reason you are reading my website right now. They have advised, helped, and encouraged me for months as I have begun to build my health coaching business and they have given countless hours of their time to help me launch my website, blog, and recipes. [**RELATIONSHIPS**] Knowing that you have true friends who will support you and love you, no matter what happens in life, is honestly one of the most health-promoting investments you can make in your life.

So even though our host, Anna, had a VERY long week of work, when we arrived on Friday, she warmly greeted us and began to excitedly share her hand-picked goodies for us! Craft beer for Eric, coconut water for me, key lime pie for our friend, Scott! But it didn’t end there… over the course of the weekend she prepared homemade apple crisp, homemade espresso, homemade coffee, chocolate chip cookies, gourmet breakfast, AND homemade ice cream AND homemade coconut ice cream – my FAVORITE!!!!! When a friend loves you enough to always go out of their way to make you feel so warmed and welcome, it is such a priceless feeling.

Over the course of the weekend we had a wonderful time, exploring the local shops, artwork, community, sites, and culture. We followed our hearty Saturday breakfast with a long walk outside and got to do some fun shopping! (“Autumn in Atlanta: Part 2” will feature some amazing shops and eateries so stay tuned!!!) There were so many runners, bicyclists, pet owners, and families enjoying a beautiful Saturday morning. A long walk or ride with friends and family is a fantastic way to soak up some vitamin D, get some good cardio exercise, be involved in the community, and catch up with face-to-face communication! [**PHYSICAL ACTIVITY**]

On Sunday, we visited the Cathedral of Christ the King, on Peachtree Road in Atlanta. [**SPIRITUALITY**] It was one of the most impressive parishes I have ever visited! It was a gorgeous church and a truly beautiful Mass with a very down-to-earth sermon. The friendly usher approached Anna and Scott just before Mass began to invite them to present the gifts of bread and wine during the Mass, which they gladly accepted. I am so thankful that we were able to share this special time with our friends!

One last highlight of the weekend was that my husband and I attended the wedding of a very good college friend! It was a beautiful ceremony and reception and we had a great time catching up with friends! (Those veggies were SO good!!)

Focus on Primary Food this week.

Nurture yourself with loving relationships, physical activity and fresh air, time dedicated to spirituality, and a healthy work-life balance. Notice how a dose of Primary Food can do wonders for your health!!

Stay tuned for Autumn in Atlanta: Part 2 for some fantastic shops, eateries, and ideas for healthy and easy Christmas gift ideas!
