Heather Blake, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach
“Health is the greatest possession, contentment is the greatest treasure, confidence is the greatest friend.”
I am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach with a Master’s of Science in Nutrition. I specialize in guiding clients to achieve optimal health by finding balance in all aspects of life, transitioning to a healthy, whole-foods diet, and finding natural remedies to address imbalances in the body. I believe in bioindividuality, which means that since every person is unique, the “perfect diet” looks different for each person. I consider health status, age, activity level, blood type, and dietary preferences when collaborating with clients to build their ideal diet. Most importantly, I coach, guide, and empower clients to implement sustainable & long-lasting lifestyle habits to support optimal health and well-being.
My Education
I completed my undergraduate education at Elizabethtown College, where I earned my Bachelor’s in Health and Occupation in 2012 and my Master’s in Occupational Therapy in 2013. I practiced as a licensed and certified occupational therapist in Columbia, South Carolina for 5 years.
In January 2018, I completed my 1-year certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). I learned about multiple innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and more.
In August 2020, I completed my Master’s of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health, with a concentration in Human Clinical Nutrition, through the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH).
My Life and My Loves
In May of 2016, I had the honor and privilege of marrying my best friend and love of my life! We currently reside in South Carolina and enjoy every single day of our life together. Our hobbies include cooking, running, praying, traveling, and exploring new places. We are unashamed “foodies” and enjoy sipping on tea, kombucha, wine, and craft beer (well that one is just Eric). He keeps me laughing every day and he is incredibly supportive of my health and career. In November 2019, we welcomed our little boy, Thomas and we are continually grateful for our greatest blessing!
My Faith
My Catholic faith has made me who I am today. I find tremendous strength, guidance, and perseverance in the power of prayer and the true presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. I have been richly blessed in so many ways and my passion for health coaching is to share true happiness, healing, and support with others as it has been generously given to me.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. ~Philippians 4:6
